A mocha pavilion over a multi-level patio

The house sits high enough above the yard that a single patio at the back door would have left a step down to nowhere. The design takes the change in grade as an opportunity instead.
The patio steps down in levels, each in Unilock pavers with its own border, so the space divides itself into dining nearest the house and lounging below without a wall between them.
Over the upper level sits a Berlin Gardens Cascade pavilion in mocha with a black metal roof, its footings sized and poured before the paving went down. It shades the dining area through the afternoon, keeps the table usable in the rain, and gives the whole back of the house a piece of architecture to sit under.
