The back of the house had space and nothing to do with it. The lawn ran flat to the tree line, the grade pushed water toward the foundation, and the family used the yard for about six weeks a year.

We laid a Unilock Beacon Hill Flagstone patio across the area, with a banded border that squares the space against the house and gives the furniture a room to sit in. A custom gas fire pit anchors the far end, plumbed to the house so there is no tank to hide, and seating walls hold the edge of the paved area at seat height.

Pro Trade LED lighting is what makes the project work after seven o'clock. Fixtures wash the walls, graze the stone and pick out the grade change at the steps, so the patio is genuinely usable long after the sun goes down.
